Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone (25th Anniversary)
Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone (25th Anniversary)

Twenty-five years ago, cinema audiences passed through the wall at Platform 9¾ for the very first time. Now, Harry Potter and the Philosopher?s Stone returns to the big screen in a special anniversary presentation featuring 12 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage never before shown in cinemas. Directed by Chris Columbus and powered by John Williams? unmistakable, Academy Award-nominated score, the film introduced Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson in the roles that made them global stars. They were joined by an extraordinary ensemble of British and Irish talent, including Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Richard Harris, Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters, John Hurt, Warwick Davis, Richard Griffiths, Fiona Shaw and John Cleese. From Diagon Alley and the Sorting Ceremony to Quidditch, Wizard?s Chess and Harry?s first Christmas at Hogwarts, this is where the cinematic magic began.

Released in November 2001, the film became the biggest worldwide box-office hit of the year and, with $974.8 million from its original run, was the second highest-grossing film in cinema history at the time. Subsequent rereleases have taken its total beyond $1.02 billion, while the eight-film series it launched went on to earn approximately $7.7 billion worldwide. The original received three Academy Award nominations, for its production design, costumes and John Williams? score, and helped establish the modern blueprint for large-scale literary adaptations and decade-spanning film franchises. BAFTA later honoured the Harry Potter films for their Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema, describing the series as one that "defined a decade of British filmmaking". Twenty-five years later, its characters, locations, spells and music remain embedded in popular culture. Return to Hogwarts and experience it once again as it was always meant to be seen: on the big screen.
